India vs Pakistan, Free Live Streaming: With a brilliant start to the campaign in their opening match, Pakistan fans must be looking forward to the second match of the group stage against India. This will be India’s first match of the campaign, as they face their arch-rivals on Saturday, September 2, at Kandy.
Pakistan kicked off their campaign with a huge win over Nepal, beating them by 238 runs. Pakistan’s skipper Babar Azam and batter Iftikar Ahmed were the star players for the side. Babar scored a brilliant 151 off 131 balls, and Iftikar hammered 109 runs off 71 balls. Nepal’s Sompal Kami took two wickets and tried to put pressure on the Pakistan side, but to no avail. Pakistan put up 342 runs in 50 overs and restricted Nepal to 104 runs in 23.4 overs. Shadab Khan took four wickets for his side.
It promises to be a thriller of a contest when India to up against the current ICC’s No. 1 ranked ODI team at Kandy. India have played a fair bit of ODI cricket this year, but the team composition (and as a result, their performance) has been circumspect of late. However, with the return of crucial players like Jasprit Bumrah and Shreyas Iyer into the folds after long injury layoffs, the side does look good on paper.
The question though remains whether young star Tilak Varma will be included into the playing 11, along with Suryakumar Yadav. While an equally-capable keeper-batsman Sanju Samson waits in the ranks as a stand-by player. In this format, Sanju has a better average than Yadav, and Tilak Varma hasn’t even debuted for India.
After facing a fair share of criticism for tinkering and chopping-and-changing the playing 11s recently, it will be quite interesting to see the players that head coach Rahul Dravid and skipper Rohit Sharma pick to start against Pakistan.
The rivalry between these two nations goes a long way back. India going against Pakistan has always been a big deal — as the high-intensity matches stretch beyond the realms of cricket field to become battles of pride.
Due to restrictions on a few teams playing in particular nations, the tournament is being held in hybrid mode in Pakistan and Sri Lanka this year.
